Welcome to the Academy.<br /><br />Yep, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is inviting 774 new members to join its rank after people criticized it of being too whitewashed.<br />Invitees include the likes of Leslie Jones, The Rock, and Wonder Woman herself Gal Gadot.<br /><br />And several Saturday Night Live alums also received invites… like Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Kate McKinnon.<br /><br />The film academy reports that the new class of potential members is 39 percent female and 30 percent non-white. <br /><br />Film directors Barry Jenkins and Jordan Peele were also asked to join the Academy…<br /><br />And so were Riz Ahmed and Chris Pratt and Anna Faris.<br /><br />Still no word if these celebs actually accepted the invite, but there’s one thing we do know: it’s definitely a step in the right direction.<br />
