<p>Tens of thousands marched</a> through Afrin in northwest Syria on July 5, to protest Turkish military intervention in the area, according to the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights.</p><p>The march follows Turkish shelling</a> in Afrin on July 3 that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units</a>, who are in control of the area, said left three people dead.</p><p>The head of the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia told Reuters</a>, on July 5, that Turkish military deployments near Kurdish-held areas of northwestern Syria amounted to a “a declaration of war”.
