<p>Drone footage from June 30 captured a newly formed island off the coast of North Carolina’s Cape Point.</p><p>According to an NPR</a> interview with Dave Hallac, superintendent of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the island had been gradually appearing, and is now several feet above ground.</p><p>Hallac said locals dubbed the island “Shelly Island” because of the abundance of seashells found on the island.</p><p>This drone footage shows Shelly Island from 2:21 to 3:30.
