State of Emergency Declared in British Columbia as Wildfires Burn Out of Control

<p>A provincial state of emergency was declared on July 8 due to an out-of-control wildfire that has consumed huge swathes of dry grassland in British Columbia, Canada.</p><p>CBC reported</a> 138 fires were started, many ignited by lightning, according to the British Columbia Wildfire Service</a>, on Friday. Evacuations were issued for an airport, an entire town</a> and hundreds of homes throughout the region.</p><p>Two airport hangars and over 30 homes in Boston flats were reportedly consumed by the flames, which at time of writing were burning over 4,000 hectares of land.</p><p>This video shows a fire at Williams Lake Airport.
