Spain’s former prime minister has met with Venezuela’s opposition leader five days after he was surprisingly transferred from prison and put under house arrest.<br /><br />Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is thought to have had a role in securing Leopoldo Lopez’s release from jail. <br /><br />The pair reportedly discussed an unofficial poll to gauge backing for President Nicolas Maduro’s plan for a constitutent assembly and the military’s role in restoring order and support for a unity government. <br /><br />At least one person was killed in the latest clashes between anti-government protestors and Venezuela’s National Guard in the western state of Zulia.<br />
