Google Earth's new venture, Voyager, aims to bring a storytelling aspect to its popular mapping service. Statuses, photos, and videos will be tracked on a map to build a collective social history. Google Earth Director Rebecca Moore The posts would tie people's stories to locations, where their personal adventures would unfold. Moore said the new functionality could be available to the public within the next two or three years. The platform is similar to Snapchat's latest geo-tagging feature, Snap Map... which shows users where their friends are located, what they're up to, and events around the world. The challenge in the future with Voyager will be monitoring the content, so Google is already highly invested in quality control.
