Adorable footage has emerged of rescued chimpanzees playing together at a sanctuary in Liberia.

The video, captured at the Liberia Chimp Rescue & Protection sanctuary, shows the playful chimps providing some hilarious moments on camera.

According to the sanctuary, many of the chimps have been rescued from poachers, who attempt to sell them as exotic pets.

Understanding that they may be suffering from trauma, workers at the sanctuary help to rehabilitate them, while also encouraging them to socialise once again.

"Caregivers help the chimps recover by bottle feeding them, playing with them, introducing them to other orphans, sleeping next to them and ultimately integrating them into a chimp group," a sanctuary spokesperson wrote online.

Music:
Song 1: Greenery - Silent Partner (from YouTube audio library)
Song 2: Non Piu Andrai - Ron Meixsell (from YouTube audio library)
