Thousands of protesters took to the streets of the Polish capital Warsaw on Sunday evening in demonstrations against a government bill to take control of the Supreme Court.<br /><br />The bill will force Supreme Court judges into early retirement and allow new judges to be appointed by the Justice Ministry. <br /><br />Critics insist the legislation is an attempt by president Duda and his right-wing Law and Justice Party to gain more power but the party says it is simply carrying out much needed judicial reform.<br />
