FRESNO, CALIFORNIA — A 58-year-old man has been hailed a hero after he beat up a hoodlum who was trying to rob his local Starbucks.

The Fresno Bee reports that Cregg Jerri was seated at a table when a robber in a Transformers mask entered the store and made a beeline for the counter. He demanded money from the Starbucks clerk, threatening her with a fake gun and a knife.

Jerri saw what was happening and grabbed a chair, even as another employee looked on bemused and ever so chill.

Surveillance footage from inside the store shows Jerri whacking the robber from behind with the chair — twice. A wild fight ensued as both struggled to get to get the upper hand.

The thug stabbed Jerri in the neck at some point during the minute-long fight. But the older man was unfazed. He got hold of the weapon and stabbed the suspect’s face and torso with it.

The robber, later identified as 30-year-old Ryan Michael Forez, was a bloody mess but somehow managed to get away. Bystanders called police after noticing his bloodied state, but Florez reportedly told responding officers that he was a carjacking victim.

Unfortunately for him, the police figured out he was the Starbucks-robbin’ Optimus Prime, and he’ll be off to prison as soon as he gets out of the hospital.

Jerri, meanwhile, had to get staples to close up his neck wound, but is expected to be back saving coffee shops in no time.
