Conservation Scientists Capture Drone Footage of Rare Cuvier's Beaked Whales

<p>During a two-week research expedition off the coast of Mexico’s Guadalupe Island, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society caught never-before-seen drone footage of a mother and calf pair of Cuvier’s beaked whales.</p><p>According to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society</a>, Cuvier’s beaked whales are considered the most extreme mammal divers in the world and can stay under water for up to two hours, which makes them a difficult animal to study since they only surface every so often.</p><p>On May 20, R/V Martin Sheen captain and drone pilot Fanch Martin recorded the first ever drone images of the mother and calf whales.
