<p><b> by Andrew Caringi</b></p><p>In Hawaii, you can walk and talk…but just don’t text.<p>A new law in Honolulu bans texting while crossing the street. The new law states that it’s actually illegal to look at your phone at all when crossing the street.</p><p>The “distracted pedestrian” law has been implemented to reduce accidents. It’s estimated that 1,000 pedestrians are injured from phone-related distractions in the U.S. each year.</p><p>The law also prohibits playing video games, using laptops, or even looking at pagers (if anyone still uses them).</p><p>Honolulu is the first major U.S. city to pass such a law.
