<p>Construction crews made progress – and attracted the attention of a chartered plane – on August 1 as they erected power poles by the Bonner Bridge in North Carolina’s Outer Banks in an effort to bring electricity back to the popular tourist area.</p><p>This footage shows the construction work as well as the chartered plane spotted over the site, carrying a banner which reads: “Call before you dig! 811 – The Podojil Family.”</p><p>The Outer Banks islands of Hatteras and Ocracoke have been suffering from a blackout since July 27, which was caused when workers from PCL Construction, a group working to replace the Bonner Bridge, accidentally damaged an underground transmission cable that provides power to the islands</a>.</p><p>Tens of thousands have been evacuated from the region at the height of vacation season, The Washington Post</a> reported.
