Refugee Track Team To Make History At World Athletics Championships

<p><b> by Jeff Donlan</b></p>From refugee camp to race track.<p>Five refugee athletes will be competing at the World Athletics Championships in London, a first for the 34-year-old track and field competition.</p><p>The refugees, who hail from Somalia, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, trained side-by-side with Kenya’s national team, running through the countryside outside Nairobi.</p><p>Anjelina Lohalith has a second chance at her dream after competing in the 2016 Rio Games with the Olympics’ first refugee team.</p><p>“This is my time I have to polish my talent and to show people all over the world that a refugee can make it,” said the 23-year-old Lohalith.</p><p>The competition runs from Saturday through Aug. 13.</p></p><br /> <p>The post Refugee Track Team To Make History At World Athletics Championships</a> appeared first on Vocativ</a>.</p>
