Three generations of forest rangers have, through 55 years, created the world's largest artificial forest in the northernmost part of north China’s Hebei Province. <br /> <br />In 1962 the Chinese government decided to build a large forest farm in order to stop the desert from encroaching towards Beijing and to preserve the water sources of the Beijing-Tianjin area. <br /> <br />The result after more than half a century's work is the world's largest man made forest.
