A juvenile grey whale swam into Dana Point Harbor on Tuesday, August 8, before paddle boarders, kayakers and Orange County sheriff’s deputies joined efforts to shoo it back out to sea.

The deputies sprayed water to create loud splashes and the boaters and boarders used their paddles to do likewise, according to a news report. The whale, though, did several laps around the harbor before it finally swam back out to sea.

The whale was later spotted swimming north in the area of Laguna Beach.
