Night life in Brazil’s party city Rio de Janeiro has suffered a decrease in numbers as the increasing violence obliges more and more Cariocas to stay at home. The effect on business has even led locals to create a neighbourhood association with which they hope to improve the area's image and pressure the authorities into doing more about their safety.
