<p>Two Houston police officers are recovering after falling 16 feet from a highway after a driver hit one of them as they were investigating a car crash on Friday, July 28.</p><p>Officer R. Carter was taken to the hospital and remains home recovering from a back injury. Officer C. Herrera was treated and released from the hospital.</p><p>Houston police released Carter’s body camera footage on Thursday, August 10, as part of a press conference on drunken driving. In the video, Carter is speaking to another officer before a car can be heard skidding. A moment later the officer is falling over the side of the highway.</p><p>Bianca Chanelle Bennett, 25, whom police say caused the crash, was charged with intoxication assault.</p><p>Sgt. Thomas Fendia told local media</a> that Carter was lucky because he fell on grass. Had he fallen a further five feet toward the exit ramp, he would have hit cement below, he said.
