Raqqa Fighting Threatens Food and Water Supply, Forces Thousands to Flee

<p>Residents of the Islamic State-held city of Raqqa, fleeing fighting and food shortages, face “harrowing living conditions” at camps in the surrounding countryside, the International Committee of the Red Cross reported on August 16.</p><p>About 250,000 people have fled the city, with tens of thousands of civilians still trapped inside as fighting between</a> IS forces and Syrian government and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces intensified. The ICRC said fighting had restricted food and water supplies in the city and that electricity had been cut off since May.</p><p>This video shows scenes from camps for the displaced, some up to 100km away from the city.
