Spanish coastguards have rescued 317 people, mostly African migrants, from the sea off the coast near Cadiz.<br /><br />Three coast guard boats were needed for the rescue operation, one of the biggest single-day rescues in recent months.<br /><br />Migrant numbers crossing from north Africa into Spain have risen this year, although the most popular route remains into Italy via Libya.<br /><br />Among those rescued on Wednesday were 13 women, 1 baby and 31 children.<br />
