L’Oréal Drops Transgender Model Over Comments on Race<br />In a statement on Friday, L’Oréal Paris UK said that it “supports diversity and tolerance towards all people irrespective of their race, background, gender and religion.” It added: “We believe<br />that the recent comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with those values, and as such we have taken the decision to end the partnership with her.”<br />She wrote that her comments had been taken out of context and were made in response to white supremacist violence last month in Charlottesville, Va.<br />“I was addressing that fact that western society as a whole, is a SYSTEM rooted in white supremacy — designed to benefit, prioritise<br />and protect white people before anyone of any other race,” she added.<br />A transgender activist and model was dropped from a L’Oréal ad campaign<br />because of comments she made on social media about race, the company said on Friday.<br />“Most of ya’ll don’t even realise or refuse to acknowledge<br />that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of colour,” she is quoted as saying.<br />The model, Munroe Bergdorf, a D. J.<br />and activist from London, was to star in L’Oréal Paris UK’s campaign to advertise a line of foundation.
