Three suicide attacks have killed at least 50 people and wounded more than 80 in southern Iraq.<br /><br />Reportedly wearing security force uniforms and driving stolen army vehicles, the attackers targeted a police checkpoint and two restaurants on a highway using car bombs and suicide vests near the city of Nassiriya.<br /><br />The so-called Islamic State group have claimed responsibility in a statement on their Amaq news agency. The ultra-hardline Sunni Muslim militant group said it had killed “dozens of Shi’ites”. <br /><br />It’s thought that the death toll could rise because some of the wounded were in a critical condition.<br />
