Quit smoking — by order of the Turkish president!

Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made anti-smoking into a personal crusade. Although smoking bans were introduced in Turkey in 2008, they have been effectively ignored by many Turks.

It seems that Erdogan is attempting to change the culture, one smoker at a time. He's made journalists stop smoking, confiscated cigarette packs, and forced people to write no-smoking pledges. He even famously got the Bulgarian prime minister to quit.

Recently, Erdogan was caught on camera confronting a taxi driver about the habit. When an authoritarian president tells you to stop smoking, you don't have much of a choice.
