More stuff is more stress in our lives and the reason things constantly get messy is because we have too much stuff\r<br>\r<br>TIDY BY CATEGORY vs by room/area\r<br>o The reason for this is that we have one type of item in multiple locations and if you miss items you will not get everything repeat the same patterns\r<br>o Her categories are: clothes, books, papers, komono (miscellaneous), mementos\r<br>\r<br>HOW TO DISCARD\r<br>o Start the process by gathering every item from category you own and put it into a big pile \r<br>o Only keep items that spark joy – hold it and feel your reion to it\r<br>\r<br>HOW TO ORGANIZE – Clothing Organization \r<br>o Most clothing should be folded versus hung up – it saves space and also forces you to have more interion with each item\r<br>o How to fold clothes: \r<br>• Fold lengthwise towards center to make a long rectangle\r<br>• Fold the short ends together and continue until the height matches the drawer height \r<br>• Instead of storing them on top of each other, stack them! This way you can see every item and it saves space\r<br>o Hanging items\r<br>• Hang items in same category side by side, dress section, jacket section, etc\r<br>• Heavy items on left going to lighter items on the right\r<br>• Heavy means most length and heavier fabrics and dark in color\r<br>o Seasonal clothes\r<br>• She doesnt believe in seasonal clothes – all items should be kept out.
