Footage of a runaway crocodile taking a walk down a supermarket escalator has emerged from China.<br /><br />The CCTV video, captured in Hechi in the southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on August 27, shows a huge crocodile walking down an escalator in a supermarket while a group of people attempt to catch it.<br /><br />According to reports, the supermarket bought the crocodile in a bid to attract customers, locking it in an iron cage.<br /><br />However, it was able to break out of the cage and escape. <br /><br />In the end, several security guards captured the croc and killed it, local media reported. The reptile's meat was then put on sale in the supermarket.<br /><br />However, since the supermarket did not have a licence to kill the crocodile and sell its meat, police stopped the product from going on sale.
