Using Rufus (Easy Way) How to Create a Windows 8 (8.1) Bootable USB Flash Drive\r<br>\r<br>1) Download Rufus \r<br>\r<br>2) Download a copy of Windows 8.1 or 8 (I downloaded my copy from DreamSpark)\r<br>3) Open the executable file of Rufus\r<br>4) Plug in your USB Flash Drive (Back-up any important files on that USB Flash Drive). We will format the Flash Drive\r<br>5) You can leave the settings as default\r<br>6) Click the button that opens an ISO\r<br>7) Find the ISO of the Windows 8.1 file\r<br>8) The settings will change corresponding to the ISO file (in this case, Windows 8.1)\r<br>9) The ISO file will finish being set into the USB within 15 minutes or so\r<br>10) After Rufus finishes setting the USB Flash Drive with Windows 8.1, then safely eject your USB Flash Drive\r<br>11) When restarting your computer, press F2, F8, or F10 to get into the utility set-up to change the Boot Order\r<br>12) Change the Boot Order so that USB Drive is at the top of the list, so that USB Flash Drive will have priority boot order than the Hard Drive\r<br>13) Press a key to boot on a USB Flash Drive with Windows 8.1\r<br>14) Set-up runs normally.
