A video has emerged from the Catalan town of Artesa de Lleida of Spanish Guardia Civil (military police) on Sunday charging a polling station which was being blocked by locals.<br /><br />The Guardia Civil eventually managed to gain entry to the polling station inside a local school but failed to find either the ballot box or the ballots and then departed.<br /><br />Tens of thousands of Catalans are expected to vote in the ballot, which will have no legal status as it has been blocked by Spain’s constitutional court. <br /><br />Madrid has sent thousands of police to the region to stop it taking place
