Huge rallies took place in the Spanish capital on Saturday after millions of Catalans voted for independence in a controversial referendum. <br /> <br />Organisers of one of the rallies asked people to come dressed in white without flags of either Spain or Catalonia. <br /> <br />They gathered outside the city hall and called on Madrid and Barcelona to talk to resolve their differences. <br /> <br />Meanwhile around 50,000 people gathered in Colon Square beneath an enormous Spanish flag for a "patriotic" march organised by activists to defend unity.
