This competition brings new meaning to the term "spousal support."<br /><br />At the 18th annual North American Wife Carrying Championship in Newry, Maine, contestants hauled their spouses through water and over obstacles across a 278-yard course. Winners receive two cases of beer and a check for five times the wife’s weight (yes, you can ask). One woman decided to carry her husband instead, but it got a little messy. <br /><br />A Virginia couple won the race in 58 seconds. They will now travel to Finland to compete for the world title. Must be the strength of true love.
