Reion\r
\r
1. Hold out a scarve or tissue about a yard or two away from your child.\r
2. Drop the scarce at random intervals. Your child has to re quickly to catch the scarf before it drops on the floor.\r
3. Use a balloon instead if the scarf is too difficult.\r
4. Increase the distance to increase the challenge.\r
\r
2. Differenciation\r
\r
1. Throw a small balloon up in the air and your child tries\r
to catch it on the fly.\r
2. Throw it up higher to increase the challenge.\r
3. To further increase the challenge, use a smaller balloon.\r
4. Or have your child start from further away,\r
adding some movement\r
\r
3. Balance\r
\r
1. Hold a racquet or stick slightly higher than your\r
childs waist height\r
2. Touch the racquet with your right foot 5 times\r
3. If you fall over, touches dont count\r
4. Lift the stick higher to increase the challenge\r
5. A stick is better than a racquet as your child has\r
to lift the leg slower,\r
better for balance to connect with the stick\r
6. Avoid having your child kick the racquet/stick,\r
you want them to lift their leg slowly.\r
7. Use a thin stick to avoid kicking.\r
8. Touch the stick/racquet 5 times with your left leg.\r
\r
4. Orientation Print\r
\r
1. Jump forward 90 degrees from line to line.\r
2. Then jump backwards 90 degrees back to the original line.\r
3. The goal is to land on the lines with your feet\r
to improve orientation.\r
4. To increase the challenge jump continuously.\r
5. Switch to jumping counter clockwise.\r
6. Change rotational sides is difficult at that age,\r
it is part of bilateral coordination.\r
\r
Rhythm\r
\r
1. Step onto the floor with your right then left leg\r
then clap in your hands.\r
2. Try to make noise when stepping onto the ground.\r
3. The sound of pouncing onto the ground will help to\r
get into a rhythm.\r
4. Counting out aloud to 3 will also help to\r
get that rhythm.\r
5. Go through the pattern very slowly to learn\r
the correct pattern.\r
6. To increase the challenge speed up the pattern.\r
7. Also try the pattern by stepping with your left leg first.\r
8. Eventually have kids perform the pattern by themselves.\r
\r
Hand - Eye Coordination\r
\r
1. Squeeze a balloon out of your hand to then catch with both hands.\r
2. Squeezing it out of your hand is great for fine motor skills.\r
3. Squeeze the balloon strait up to have sufficient time to catch it.\r
4. Try squeezing the balloon with both your left and right hand.\r
\r
\r
Physical Activity\r
\r
1. Attach a post it to your finger and hold it slightly\r
above the reach of your child.\r
2. Jump up and try to grab the post it.\r
3. Stick the post it grabbed onto a wall to keep track\r
of how many you picked already.\r
4. Hold the post it low enough for the kids to be able\r
to grab it within 3-5 jumps, kids that young need success\r
quickly to keep going and stay engaged.\r
5. The hard part is to close the fingers at the right moment\r
to be able to grab the post it.\r
\r
development milestones for children\r
\r
We work on one skill each day of the week:\r
\r
1. Reion\r
2. Differentiation\r
3. Balance\r
4. Orientation\r
5. Rhythm\r
6. Hand - eye coordination\r
7. Physical ivity
