A video has emerged from London of a driver confronting a traffic warden who parked his motor scooter on a double yellow line.

"I don't think you're allowed to park there," the driver politely points out to the traffic warden whose scooter is parked on a double yellow line on Maguire Street in South East London.

Incredibly, the helmeted warden responds that there was no space to park his scooter, so he decided to leave it there and then claims that he is allowed to park on a double yellow line for up to five minutes.

No such rule appears in the Highway Code which states in rule 238:

"You MUST NOT wait or park on yellow lines during the times of operation shown on nearby time plates. Double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time."

"One rule for them and another for us!" The filmer of the incident concludes with an onscreen graphic.
