China’s economy is on track to meet its official growth target for this year, according to the state planning agency.<br /><br />“We expect to achieve the full-year growth targeet of about 6.5 percent,” said He Lifeng, chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).<br /><br />This comes despite a battle against pollution which is expected to slash industrial output this winter.<br /><br />Many cities have been ordered to reduce emissions of airborne particles; some are expected to cut steel production by half.<br /><br />The country’s economy grew by 6.8 percent in the third quarter of the year.<br /><br />China economy on track to hit 2017 growth target – state planner https://t.co/NzjnTpejNW pic.twitter.com/rV9XAJT4Ii— Reuters Top News (@Reuters) October 21, 2017<br />
