Footage of the world's "first unmanned smart electric bus" triailing in Zhuzhou City in southern China's Hunan Province.

The video, filmed on October 23, shows the 30-metre-long bus equipped with sensors, which can read the dimensions of the road and plan its own route, taking part in a test with lots of passengers on board.

In the video, a driver can be seen controlling the steering wheel. But the bus is apparently capable of driving itself.

Local reports say it could run unmanned around February next year and that this was the first trial of its kind anywhere in the world.

However, other nations such as the Netherlands have reportedly carried out similar such trials.
