With ethnic tensions boiling over, Kenya’s electoral authorities are set to announce on Sunday what should happen in areas which boycotted Thursday’s rerun presidential election.<br /><br />Fears of unrest have prevented further attempts at voting.<br /><br />Tribal divisions have ignited, raising concerns that Kenya could see the type of violence that left 1,200 people dead after a disputed election a decade ago.<br /><br />Around 50 people have been killed, mostly by security forces, since this year’s initial presidential poll in August, which was annulled over procedural irregularities.<br /><br />Opposition leader Raila Odinga pulled out of this month’s rerun, saying that it too would be flawed and calling for a boycott.<br /><br />Millions stayed away, paving the way, no doubt, for a crushing victory by incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta and fears of ever-increasing turmoil.<br /><br />Kenya govt defends low turnout in ‘chaotic’ repeat polls https://t.co/djJ23pj0hG— africanews (@africanews) 28 octobre 2017<br /><br />with Reuters<br />
