This snake scored a hole in one - after swallowing a 2ft-long IGUANA on a GOLF COURSE.

The Golden Tree Snake was spotted wrapping its jaws around the reptile’s head on a green last Thursday afternoon at 4pm.

Murray Darling, who is originally from Ediburgh, Scotland, watched the snake spend five minutes swallowing the stranded iguana, which measured at least 60cm long.

Incredible footage shows the venomous snake wrapping itself around the thorny body of the lizard to crush it as it struggles to squeeze it inside its mouth.

Despite the size of the iguana, it eventually succumbed to the snake on the 14th green at The Royal Golf And Country Club in Bangkok.

Murray, a corporate managing director, said: ‘’My golf was bad but I was having a better day than this poor lizard on the 14th green.

‘'I thought it was a small monitor at first but I think it was more iguana-like.

''The snake had it fully under control. The iguana head never came out from the snake’s mouth in the five minutes we watched.

''I was having a horrible round but sunk my only one putt of the day to ensure I got off the green swiftly. The snake was going to win. We left and let him enjoy his dinner.’'

The Golden Tree Snake, also known as a Flying Snake or its scientific name of Chrysopelea ornata, is fairly common across Asia.

They normally feed on rats, birds, small lizards, eggs and insects but it is rare to see them devouring such a large Iguana in broad daylight.
