At least 26 people have been killed after a gunman opened fire in a church in Sutherland Springs, in the US state of Texas.<br /><br />A single gunman walked into the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs and opened fire, Wilson County Commissioner Albert Gamez Jr. told NBC News.<br /><br /><br /><br />The shooter died after a brief car chase with police. It was not immediately clear whether his fatal wounds were self-inflicted or whether he had been killed by his pursuers.<br /><br />Scores of police rushed to the site in the small town around 40 km south east of San Antonio.<br /><br />Texas governor Greg Abbott described the massacre as an “evil act” and Donald Trump Tweeted that he was monitoring the situation from Japan, where he is beginning a tour of Asia.<br /><br />May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas.
