The parents of a six-month-old baby that died after having breathing difficulties have spoken of their heartbreak outside the coroner’s court in Chelmsford, Essex.<br /><br />Iris Ann Day died on December 2 last year after her parents rushed her to Colchester General Hospital’s A&E department when she started to have difficulties breathing.<br /><br />An inquest was opened at Chelmsford Coroner’s Court. <br /><br />Speaking outside the court today (November 14), father Ben Day spoke of how they were made to feel like "an annoyance" to the NHS.<br /><br />According to local reports, Iris was born with Down syndrome and an atrio-ventricular septal defect, which was discovered when her mother Hannah was 36 weeks pregnant.<br /><br />The inquest had previously heard that a potentially life-saving heart operation was delayed three times.<br /><br />Asked how much she still misses Iris, mum Hannah said: "It's immeasurable."<br /><br />According to local media, in a narrative conclusion the assistant coroner identified "failings in the care provided by Colchester Hospital."
