<p>Crowds in Canberra erupted with cheer on November 15 after the the Australian Bureau of Statistics announced survey results in favour of same-sex marriage.</p><p>Liberal Member for Brindabella Mark Parton in the Australian Capital Territory posted this footage of the scene. He wrote on Twitter</a>: “That was more emotional than I thought it would be. I won’t confirm or deny the presence of tears… Let’s get this finished. #VoteYes”</p><p>Parton was part of a Liberal and Nationals group that broke ranks from their conservative colleagues to campaign for a “yes” vote in the Marriage Law Postal Survey, Canberra Times reported</a>.</p><p>More than 61 per cent of Australians voted to allow same-sex couples to marry</a> and more than 38 percent voted no.
