Slow Cooker Pizza Pasta <br /> <br />Ingredients: <br />1 lb (500g) mild Italian sausage meat <br />2 tsp (10 mL) dried oregano <br />1 tsp (5 mL) extra virgin olive oil <br />1/4 tsp (1 mL) hot pepper flakes <br />1 large red onion, chopped <br />1 green or yellow bell pepper, chopped <br />2 cloves garlic, minced <br />1 container (8 oz/227 g) petite/gourmet button mushrooms <br />2 cups (500 mL) pizza sauce <br />2 cups (500 mL) water <br />2 cups (500 mL) rotini pasta <br />1/2 cup (125 mL) shredded part skim mozzarella cheese <br />2 Tbsp (30 mL) grated Parmesan cheese <br /> <br />Method: <br />Brown sausage in a nonstick skillet with oregano, oil and hot pepper flakes over medium high heat and place in slow cooker. <br /> <br />Stir in onion, pepper, garlic, mushrooms, pizza sauce and water. <br />Cover and cook on Low for 4 or on High for 2 hours. <br /> <br />Uncover and stir in pasta; cover and cook on High for 20 minutes or until pasta is tender. <br /> <br />Sprinkle with cheeses; cover and let stand for 10 minutes for cheese to melt. <br />Stir to combine before serving. <br /> <br />Prep Time: 20 Minutes, cook time: 4 Hours <br />Servings: 4-6
