Winds Kick Up as California Fires Spread

<p>Dry conditions and Santa Ana winds stirred several wildfires in southern California on Thursday, December 7, mostly blazing north of Los Angeles. Firefighters quickly brought a blaze near Malibu under control, but other fires were spreading.</p><p>The 96,000-acre Thomas fire, the largest, reached the Pacific Ocean Wednesday night.
