MIT researchers create glow-in-the-dark plant

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS — MIT researchers have engineered a plant that can glow in the dark from the same enzyme fire flies use to glow. <br /> <br />According to an MIT news release, scientists laced watercress plants with the luciferase enzyme. <br /> <br />They envision the plant being used as a desk lamp replacement, but say it could possibly be applied to street lamps in the future. <br /> <br />Details of the research were published in the journal Nanoletters.
