<br /> Rian Johnson, the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, has provided his explanation for Luke Skywalker’s first scene in the movie.<br />The scene came as a surprise to some viewers.<br />Arguably the most anticipated moment of the movie is Rey handing Luke his lightsaber.<br />In the film Luke is handed his old weapon.<br />He remains silent and tosses it over his shoulder and off the cliff, much to the shock of Rey.<br />This was far from what she and the audience expected, and that was the intent of Johnson. <br />
