<p>A flash flood warning was in effect for the Hawaiian island of Maui on Wednesday, December 20, as heavy rainfall battered the island.</p><p>Authorities extended the flood watch to 5 pm, reporting rainfall rates of up to two inches per hour</a> in the worst-affected areas. A Winter Storm Warning and a High Surf Advisory were also in place.</p><p>Flooded conditions and localized landslides forced the closure</a> of several roads around Maui.
