CHICAGO — Small spine implants can help numb pain in patients dealing with chronic aches and agony. <br /> <br />The technology, by Abbott Laboratories, works by the patient receiving an battery-powered implant into their body that stimulates an area of the spine called the dorsal root ganglion. <br /> <br />Pain processed by the body there can be counteracted with electricity from the device. The implant is operated via remote control. <br /> <br />A patient with chronic pain told Bloomberg the implant doesn't eliminate pain completely but can help make something they can live with.
