Thousands of locals and tourists take part in a candle-lit lantern ceremony in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to mark the new year. <br /><br />Thais and foreigners gathered with a range of different paper lanterns before letting them go into the dark night sky at Thae Pae Gate.<br /><br />Numerous flights at Chiang Mai International airport were rerouted or rescheduled due to potential danger of lanterns in flight paths, according to the filmer.
