Hoda Kotb has been appointed co-anchor of the Today show, replacing Matt Lauer.<br />During the New Year's broadcast, Kotb joined co-anchor Savannah Guthrie for the first two hours.<br />The 53-year-old anchor will also continue to co-host the fourth hour of the show with Kathie Lee Gifford.<br />It marks the first all-female team in the Today show's 65-year history.<br />But the decision may have been in response to the show's success in the last month since Lauer was fired from the show. <br />
