The historic city of York is facing a recurring flooding nightmare as rivers surrounding its ancient streets have topped over their banks following Storm Eleanor.<br /><br />Flood warnings were issued today (January 4) by the Environment Agency to properties neighbouring the River Ouse, which runs directly through the centre of the city.<br /><br />The river lapped over its banks overnight due to a combination of high tides and continuous spells of heavy rain.<br /><br />The Environment Agency issued a flood warning to riverside properties and told residents "immediate action is required."
