<br /> <p>At least one person has died, approximately 60 are injured and 17 were missing after a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Caraveli Province in Peru on Sunday, January 14.</p><p>Video from the Peruvian Air Force shows the town of Acari, one of the areas affected by the earthquake, and Peru’s President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski tweeted</a> he was traveling to the Arequipa towns Acarí and Chala to examine the extent of the damage and coordinate humanitarian aid.</p><p>The governor of Arequipa, Yamila Osorio, tweeted</a> that a man had died in the town of Yauca after being hit by a rock.</p><p>Chilean media reports</a> said a second person died in the town of Bella Union after a building collapsed, though the government is only reporting one dead at the time of writing.</p><p>Power outages were reported</a> in several areas.
