Massive Earthquake Strikes Alaska's Coast The 7.9 magnitude quake initially triggered <br />tsunami warnings on the West Coast which were cancelled after forecasters <br />further investigated the threat. Alaskan authorities reported tsunami waves less than 1 foot. A tsunami warning was earlier in effect for California, Oregon and Washington.
