<br /> <p>Plumber Terry Barrell became an Australian citizen during a ceremony held at the Davis research station in the Australian Antarctic Territory on Thursday, January 25, the eve of Australia Day.</p><p>Barrell had been employed at the station since November 2017. “I was granted my citizenship while going through my pre-departure training in Hobart, and was hoping to become an Australian citizen before I left for Antarctica," he said, "but there wasn’t time to arrange a ceremony before the ship left.”</p><p>The ceremony was conducted by Davis station leader Robb Clifton.
