FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly leaving his position ahead of a previously planned retirement this spring.<br /> He led the bureau for months last year following the firing of former director James Comey until Christopher Wray took the helm.<br />McCabe has often been criticized by President Trump for being politically motivated, as an investigation into alleged collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia continues. <br />McCabe was slated to retire in March, but he is able to step down earlier with his accumulated leave.<br />U.S. media reports he is leaving his post on Monday.<br />Asked about his departure, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters that President Trump was not part of the decision-making process.<br />The FBI is yet to make a formal statement on the matter. <br />
